This is a quick overview about us and our floating home, s/v Sail Pending
We are Richard, Kristie and Tyler (13).
April 2015: We are in the process of Selling everything, walking away (really running as fast as we can) from our Real Estate career and Sailing Away.
— Oh, did I mention we have very little sailing experience? —
We are going from a Sales Life to a Sailor’s Life.
We are recording our journey on this website.
Here is a picture of us on vacation in Virgin Gorda with our daughter Kaycie, who currently lives in NYC and works at Equinox. She is 20 years old and comes and visit us often.

Season 1:
October 21, 2015: Today we flew to St. Thomas on a one-way ticket and moved aboard our sailboat Sail Pending!!!
Kaycie came to visit us over her Thanksgiving Break. Here we are enjoying the beach at Water Island.
February 2016: We did our first really long crossing which was overnight across the Anegada Passage from Virgin Gorda to St. Martin. We toured St. Martin and St. Barths.
March 13; We left St. Martin for a 90 mile run to get to Montserrat for St. Patrick’s Day!
March 14; St.Eustatius
March 15; St. Kitts and Nevis
March 16-17; Montserrat
March 18th; We sailed East to Antigua! We stayed to watch the Classic Boat Regatta and Grammy and Pop Pop came to visit.
April 21st, 2015; We sailed from Antigua to Guadeloupe and spent a month sailing around the French paradise of Guadeloupe and the surrounding islands.
May 21, 2016: We sailed from Portsmouth, Dominica to St. Pierre, Martinique. We spent a couple weeks exploring Martinique.
June 2016: We spent time in St. Lucia; stayed at Blue Lagoon Marina in St. Vincent and sailed through the Grenadine’s stopping at Mustique, Bequia, Myreau, Tobago Cays and Union Island.
June 29th, 2016: We checked into Grenada and we are now focusing our Vloging our journey. Here is a link to our Youtube channel. Please visit and subscribe.
In September 2016, we sailed from Grenada to Trinidad and back to Grenada, through waters historically known to have pirate attacks. (Yea, fun times!!)
Season 2: Trailer!
Wow!! ^^ It’s hard to believe that we now have a trailer for our life!!
October 20th, 2016, we left Grenada and quickly headed North to St. Ann, Martinique where we spent a month getting our water maker repaired and other boat projects done to start the new season.
November 22nd, We left Martinique and had our longest sail yet, non stop 50 hours, to St. Martin, 260 miles away. Link to Tyler’s video about our sail. We also caught and released a huge Marlin along the way. Here is a link to that video!!
December 2016, we quickly passed through the BVI, USVI and are flying back to Florida from Puerto Rico for Christmas.
We stopped at Mona Island (click here for video) on January 22, 2017, our way to the Dominican Republic.
